
2009 ARABIAN SPONSORSHIP AWARDS SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED
Regions leading brands well represented including CommercialBank Qatar, Du, Emirates NBD, Etihad, Mubadala and Zain.
The shortlist for the 2009 Arabian Sponsorship Awards has been released today and features regional and international brands with campaigns ranging from music to Arctic exploration, football to
Formula 1.
The shortlist includes brands such as Audi, Du, Castrol, Commercialbank of Qatar, Etihad Airways, Emirates NBD, Leisurecorp, Mubadala, Zain. Four organizations: Commercial Bank of Qatar, Etihad, Emirates NBD and Mubadala were each shortlisted in multiple categories.
Entries were received from sponsors, rights holders and agencies across the Gulf region. All sponsorship activity entered has taken place in the Middle East Region in the past 18 months. The first entries were judged by a panel of leading marketing and business professors from Abu Dhabi University, Higher College of Technology, Sharjah University, Zayed University. The second round of judging is underway involving 7 independent, international sports and entertainment sponsorship experts, who are in the UAE this week for the inaugural Arabian Sponsorship Forum. The winners will be announced on 14th December at the Arabian Sponsorship Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.

The first ever Arabian Sponsorship Awards are part of the Arabian Sponsorship Forum, which is being held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister for Higher Education and Research and is part of the Arabian Sponsorship Forum Gala Dinner, which is sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and SportsCare Program. All award entries will be made available to leading universities in the UAE and across the Arabian Gulf for marketing and business degree work. Trophies for the Awards are being created by Crystal Gallery.
