Carlo Nohra is the Chief Executive Officer of the UAE Football League (UFL), an association of twelve professional football clubs in the UAE. The UFL is responsible for the organization and management of four competitions: Etisalat Pro-League, the Etisalat Cup, the Etisalat Challenge League and the Etisalat Super Cup as well as the development, sales and servicing of all commercial rights associated with these competitions.
Prior to joining the UFL in January 2010, Carlo served as Assistant General Secretary for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). During a seven-year tenure with AFC Carlo oversaw the organization of competitions which included the AFC Asian Cup and the Asian qualifications for the FIFA World Cup and the football competition of the Olympic Games, among others. He also established an Event Management division designed to facilitate the operation delivery of events as well as anchor the relationship with local organizing committees and the host football associations. Finally, Carlo also oversaw the renegotiation of AFC’s commercial rights deal with the World Sport Group (WSG) for the commercial period 2013 to 2020.
This deal was of major significance in Carlo’s long career in football as he was formerly employed by WSG, to which he credits his start and solid grounding in the industry. At WSG, Carlo started on the shop floor as an Event Executive and quickly rose to handle client services and sales. He completed his service to WSG in 2003 as Vice President for Corporate Strategy.
The seeds of Carlo’s career in sport were sown on the steps of Boalt Hall at the University of California, Berkeley from which he obtained a Bachelors of Art degree in Legal Studies in 1991.
